PHSANZ Academy Masterclass - Registration

The PHSANZ Academy Regional Masterclass Series is aimed at all clinicians who see breathless patients who want to elevate their competencies in diagnosing, treating and managing Pulmonary Hypertension.

The first course will be held in Melbourne on Saturday 29th June 2019, with a core-faculty of leading experts in PHT.


Course content

The course will comprise a mix of didactic, practical skills and case based interactive sessions. An assessment will be made before and after the course with certificates of completion provided to all attendees.

This masterclass is supported by a financial grant from GlaxoSmithKline (GSK) Australia. It has been developed by PHSANZ independently of GSK.


Topics include:

Epidemiology – delay to diagnosis, incidence and prevalence, new mortality thresholds

Causes of Breathlessness – making the correct diagnosis

Diagnostic testing – echo and right heart catheter ‘live’ cases in a box

Treatment and Management of PHT – options, pathways and prescribing

Drugs used in PH – issues and side effects, combination therapy

PHT Special Circumstances – connective tissue disease and congenital heart defects

Considerations in Intensive Care – anaesthesia and surgery
